I am Métis/Cree with roots going back to the Red River Settlement. As an Indigenous person, my passion has always been to help our people heal and move forward, no matter where they are at in their lives. For 20 years I worked for the Prince George Native Friendship Centre (PGNFC) where I supported people in various departments such as health, housing, and employment. It was in my role as a Victim Services Coordinator that I learned about Gladue and have been following this path of justice ever since.
In 2009 I became a Gladue Report Writer, contracted through Legal Services Society (Legal Aid BC) and most recently the BC First Nations Justice Council. In October 2019, I joined the Prince George Urban Aboriginal Justice Society family as the Institutional Reintegration Worker and then moved into the Gladue Aftercare Worker role.
I am currently the Programs Manager and Indigenous Justice Worker for PGUAJS. This is, by far, my favorite position as it allows the opportunity to provide support and guidance to both clients and staff. I am grateful for our Executive Director’s leadership and the innovative ideas that come from everyone working at PGUAJS. It is clear they share my passion for the work we do, always searching for ways to lessen the number of Indigenous people within the judicial system.
