Full time - Gladue Aftercare Worker
Reporting to the Team Lead, the Gladue Aftercare Worker is responsible for providing case and
file management by assisting Indigenous clients to follow through with the recommendations of
their Gladue Report upon sentencing.

Prince George Urban Aboriginal Justice Society is an organization dedicated to reducing the
number of Indigenous people in conflict with the law. We recognize that both preventative and
responsive approaches are required to create positive outcomes.


The position:
The Gladue Aftercare Worker provides direct services, and make necessary referrals to
programs, corrections, and the community to ensure services are provided in a timely manner.
Additionally, the position works in partnership with the courts and/or Probation and Parole
Services by providing client input and updates as required.


Qualifications and requirements:
The Gladue Aftercare Worker should have some experience in fields of justice and law, social
work, mental health, or related area. Experience and knowledge of First Nation issues and the
current legal system is an asset.
Preferrable a Community College, or equivalence in Social Services, and/or minimum of five
years’ work experience in a social or justice service environment
Knowledge of the judicial system, Criminal Code, and other related federal and provincial
statutes, and related court decisions regarding Indigenous persons.
Knowledge of Indigenous culture and experience working with Indigenous people.
Knowledge of an Indigenous language(s) will be considered an asset
Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer proficiency
Must be comfortable in a correctional facility setting
Ability to provide appropriate criminal record check and have a valid driver's license
Must have reliable transportation; travel to and from the correctional center is required.


Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30
