2. Practicum Students
Post-Secondary students are welcomed to complete their practicum with PGUAJS, as we will provide real life situational training! For more information regarding practicum placements please send us an email and you will be contacted to arrange an interview date.
3. Board of Directors
The Society is governed by an elected body of community members who are committed to shaping policies for this not-for-profit Aboriginal organization, which focuses on restorative justice. We invite you to share your experience and knowledge in areas such as business, justice, social issues, and finance. Meetings are held once a month for a maximum of 1.5 hours, with an additional commitment to attend the Annual General Meeting for the election of Officers.

Prince George Urban Aboriginal Justice Society is dedicated to reducing the number of Indigenous people in conflict with the law by supporting culturally grounded, restorative, preventative, and responsive justice services.
We work with Indigenous youth, families, justice partners, community organizations, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and service providers to support healing, accountability, reconnection, and safer pathways forward.
𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲
The Indigenous Youth Worker provides direct support to Indigenous youth who may be in crisis, in conflict with the law, at risk of justice involvement, or in need of culturally safe support.
This role includes one-to-one support, group programming, referrals, advocacy, documentation, restorative justice support, and coordination with community partners.
The successful candidate will be compassionate, organized, culturally aware, trauma-informed, and able to build strong relationships with youth, families, community partners, Elders, and justice-system stakeholders.
𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀
The Indigenous Youth Worker will:
- Provide culturally safe drop-in and scheduled support to Indigenous youth.
- Support youth who are experiencing crisis, instability, conflict, or justice involvement.
- Assist with intake, file opening, file closing, documentation, and case notes.
- Help develop and track individualized Healing Plans.
- Support youth participation in Restorative Justice Circles, cultural programming, and community-based supports.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate group activities, workshops, cultural activities, and one-to-one support sessions.
- Assess youth needs and make appropriate referrals to housing, counselling, education, employment, health, mental health, addictions, cultural, and legal/community supports.
- Advocate for youth in a respectful and professional manner.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with youth, families, schools, justice partners, service providers, and community organizations.
- Help organize completion ceremonies, feasts, recognition events, or other culturally appropriate acknowledgements.
- Prepare monthly summaries, statistics, and year-end reporting as required.
- Maintain confidentiality, accurate records, and professional boundaries.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀
The ideal candidate will have:
- Diploma or degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Criminology, Indigenous Studies, Human Services, Psychology, Education, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with Indigenous youth, families, or communities.
- Understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, intergenerational trauma, colonial impacts, and culturally grounded healing approaches.
- Knowledge of restorative justice, youth justice, trauma-informed practice, harm reduction, and community-based supports.
- Strong communication, documentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm, respectful, and professional in crisis or conflict situations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, digital files, and basic data entry.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence is an asset.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check is required as a condition of employment.

The Administrative Assistant supports the smooth day-to-day operation of Prince George Urban Aboriginal Justice Society by providing front desk, clerical, administrative, communication, and office support.
This role is often the first point of contact for clients, visitors, community members, vendors, and partner organizations. The successful candidate will be professional, welcoming, organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple administrative tasks with care and confidentiality.
The Administrative Assistant will support the Executive Director, Operations Manager, Finance Manager, program staff, and broader team with office coordination, document preparation, meeting support, communications, supplies, records, and general administrative duties.
𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀
The Administrative Assistant will:

Greet walk-in visitors in a friendly, respectful, and professional manner.

Serve as a first point of contact for clients, community members, vendors, and service providers.

Answer and direct phone calls, emails, and general inquiries to the appropriate staff member.

Receive, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.

Monitor and manage office supplies, equipment, and general office inventory.

Support the Executive Director, Operations Manager, Finance Manager, and program staff with administrative tasks.

Format documents, letters, forms, reports, and other materials as required.

Convert documents between file types, including PDF to Word and Word to PDF.

Assist with the preparation of PowerPoint presentations and meeting materials.

Support preparation for Board meetings, staff meetings, community meetings, and special events.

Prepare meeting rooms, arrange refreshments when required, and help ensure meetings are organized and ready.

Take minutes at staff meetings or other meetings as assigned.

Assist with filing, scanning, photocopying, digital records, and general document management.

Coordinate staff travel arrangements when required, including transportation and accommodation support.
